"All Ball Calls"-(818-569-5449)

01-14-08 A New Year!!!

Here's some stuff.....top o' my head.....
Filled in a bunch for Jason Bonham last year. He is in Foreigner . I was in Foreigner in '98- '00 until I joined Ozzy Osbourne for one Ozzfest tour (2000). Go to youtube.com, type in Ozzy 2000 and there is some good quality pay-per-view footage of that tour....I will eventually learn how to link it to my site and myspace.... Not many people were aware I played with Oz, but I don't care cuz I know I did. I have tapes of myself playing along to Blizzard Of Ozz in 7th grade. I struggled trying to learn Randy Rhoads' solos in 8th and high school. C'mon! And I bought Paranoid at a garage sale in 6th grade on 8-track for a quarter! Why am I telling you this? Cuz I grew up on Ozzy and Randy and Sabbath. And to play with Ozzy was heavier than almost anything....and that's the end of that story!!! Back to the update... While filling in for Jason, it included a few dates on the tour they did with Def Leppard and Styx....that was cool.... Styx's drummer Todd Sucherman is great. And it was killer to watch Rick Allen work his kit with all his pedals. Both guys were very cool..... Foreigner sounds great and it was, as always, a lot of fun touring with them. We hit South Africa and a ton of countries throughout Europe. I have so much respect for Mick Jones and the career he's had.... but mainly all the killer songs he's written. Admit it, they are great tunes! I learned how to do a double stroke on one kick pedal all because of the verse groove in Hot Blooded! That song blew me away. I practiced to those records hardcore when I just getting it all going.... Soooo......the band....Jeff Pilson, Kelly Hansen, Paul Mirkovich, Mick Jones and my great friend Tom Gimbel on rhythm gtr. and sax are good, straight-shootin' guys who pay much respect to what makes Foreigner sound like a killer rock band..... so that's that... One of the shows on the tour brought us to the 02 Arena on Dec. 10th....It was the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert with Led Zeppelin headlining...... We played one song, Paul Rodgers played a couple, Billy Wyman's band played a couple....... after an intermission Zep came on..... They are my all time favorite band..... Zep has never done me wrong....never..... every record...every bootleg....... they are the coolest ....they are the funkiest....they are the most inventive....they are the most badass.......Bonzo, that's all I say....if you don't get it, then it doesn't matter..... JPJ .... same thing..... Page.....HE WROTE THE RAIN SONG..... no more to say.... Plant...... everyone else follows what he started.... They are all clever... they are all wise and extremely sensitive to the surroundings they created....... one group had to be the best at everything and that is Led Zep... Yes, The Beatles are the shit....yes, Queen broke ground on every record. The Who, The Stones..... yeah, yeah, yeah....but ....JIMMY PAGE WROTE THE RAIN SONG! Hahaha.... Oh, did you ever hear the drum intro to WHEN THE LEVEE BREAKS!!!!!!????? That is equally as perplexing as the first time in your life that you heard "Black Sabbath" by Black Sabbath....Those are things we now take for granted. There was a time when humans had never heard such a sound. It leaves you dumbfounded!!!! And to have the capacity to do that musically is the shit! My friend Sean White has this quote to hang his hat onto.... "If ya smell something stinky, it's me 'cuz I'm the shit!" Now that's brilliance! So, they were great. Jason held his own. The arena was 18,000 and it felt intimate. It felt special to be there. I don't care if didn't sound like my favorite version on such and such bootleg. Or every lick form the original recording wasn't there....so what....it never was to begin with...... As far as I can tell....Zeppelin was always a work in progress dropping in on this planet to rest its wings while it put to tape the sounds captured in flight!!!!!! YES! I just thought of that!!!!!! Whatever....they rule and I can say in this lifetime that ....I OPENED UP FOR LED ZEPPELIN!!!!!! Also in this update of confusion.....

I have done records this year for ...

Prog Rocker bassist/singer/songwriter Chris Buck. Check him out. Virgil Donati is on some of it. Derek Sherinian is. Allan Holdsworth is. Pretty adventurous stuff. And Chris trusted me to record the drums and get it together on my own in my studio.....

Guitar hero Steve Stevens. Steve wrote a solo record this year and called me in like Sep or Oct to cut the drum tracks. Steve plays his ass off and I think it's a perfect representaion of all things Steve Stevens. It's all there and the shit is tight! I think it'll be out real soon on Magna Carta....

Writing for Derek Sherinian's next solo record.... We've got some tracks written and drums down. We are moving on the rest now....

There was some other stuff..... Shows with Gilby Clarke in the US and Canada....

A month with Seether.....I like those guys..... Singer Shaun Morgan writes some catchy tunes.... and Dale is a sweetheart!

I don't know..... I play racquetball and swung the racquet into my left finger knuckle. I gave myself a damn bone bruise that took 8 months to chill out and cost me 7-800.00 trying to get it fixed! Sometimes I'd try to do a Chuck Berry lick and the pain would shoot up my arm.... I think I now have an idea of what it is to have arthritis and tendonitis and all that stuff....it sucks......

I think this year will be filled with a bunch of Billy Idol stuff. That's all getting worked on now......

I went snowboarding for the first time in 5 years. I'm pretty good. I could get used to it real quickly! First time down I'm all paranoid of wiping out and getting too fast too soon and jaming a finger. 2nd time down you start balancing out your turns and feeling the board out. 3rd time down you're gettin' comfy and gaining speed..... what a cool sport.... oh, there is a pun in there.......

That's the update....

Oh yeah.... I left Tama and switched to Ddrum. Sometimes you gotta be a squeaky wheel to get oiled. But I get lazy with that idea kinda quickly. So time passes and things you think are supposed to happen don't. And then you think that life is short and time ain't giving me a "get a year free" pass. So you think that change only brings new unknown options and that is better than wondering what would happen if things changed! So you change it all up a bit! I had heard Ddrum had some great new drum lines going on and checked them out. Well they do and I'm glad they were interested in me..... Kevin and all at Ddrum are swell guys and I look forward to promoting their ass kickin' drums on the road and in the studio real soon..... right now.... Have a great year.....

Oh. There a couple new greasy, bearded pics up (after 5 weeks in Europe) .... Right after they were taken I shaved and did a nice, clean photo shoot for Ddrum. I don't if I can post the Ddrum pic yet as it's to be a big poster at the NAMM show.... that'll be added after I talk to them and they ok it...

Bye, Brian

04-02-07 TICHY TOUR UPDATE!

I will be going on a quick Canadian tour with my bud Gilby Clarke from Supernova/Guns 'N Roses fame. But he's also played with Heart and the MC5. That boy don't stop!

Along for the ride will be Stefan Adika. He's also gonna play bass!

The dates are from April 4th through April 10th. Check out GilbyClarke.com for exact locations....

Gilby likes to take a break in the middle of the show and have a cocktail. This gives me a chance to let loose on a little "Ode To Bonzo".... I like to call this portion of the show... "TICHIFIED!" Lookout!

04-02-07 UPDATE!

So I got a sudden burst of blah blah blah adrenaline. I'm going in for the UPDATE!
Firstly, for some more current news and pics, go to www.myspace.com/briantichy and check out my page.

Just when I think I'm going to put some time into this here site, life kinda gets in the way. I'm gettin video clips together of footage from throughout my career. I have hundreds of personal Hi-8 tapes and now it's just a matter of getting them onto DVD and editing some of it. For all you Zakk Wylde, Slash, Ozzy, Foreigner, Billy Idol, Velvet Revolver fans....as long as those guys give me their blessing, I will be posting some footage of myself with them. Sooooooooo.........

There are some new pics HERE, and here's a bit of what's been going on the past few months...

.... NAMM '07 .....

I played a few times down at the NAMM show this past January. I did a couple songs with my friends Stevie Salas, Bernard Fowler and Doug Wimbish at Doug's "Wimbash". We all had a band called Nickelbag. We put out a couple records in the mid 90's that were huge in Orlando, Florida for some reason! OK, maybe not huge but I think Orlando and maybe Japan were the only places we got some airplay and sold some CD's...
The guys are all good buds a great players. Fuckin' Bernard can really whip up a storm on vocals. He means business and it's always a pleasure to back him up on stage or in the studio. Stevie is a long time friend and like most things, when time goes by and you haven't been around someone, it's all too easy to forget how funny or talented they may be. Well, Stevie is one of them.... And he's in my top 3 people that can guaranteed make me laugh. (The other 2 are JD DeServio and Zakk Wylde from Black Label Society). The 3 of us were Pride & Glory for a few months back in 1994 and the 2 of them together is a full on non-stop comedy routine. And Doug Wimbish is one hell of a nice guy and an insanely unique player.
Down at NAMM, I also played with JD and Nick Catanese from BLS along with Mike Stone from Queensryche. We played at the Black Tooth Bash tribute to Dimebag Darrell concert. I had never seen a NAMM show so packed. I think that's 'cuz I was playing. It had nothing to do with Scott Ian, Tim "The Ripper" Owens, Paul Gray from Slipknot, Jason Bittner from Shadows Fall or Vinnie Paul from Pantera/Damageplan/HellYeah! Anyhow, everyone jammed and kicked ass and it was chaos backstage and the cops were trying to shut it down and that was only soundcheck!
After Vinnie Paul came up and threw down hard, I got back up and did another show with Lemmy from Motorhead. My bud Eric Singer couldn't play that night due to a bingo game he had to be at! Nooooo! He was sick and wasn't ready to play so he called me up. Lemmy was cool and afterwards he said something like "good job". That was fine for me. As long as Lemmy is cool with me, then my job was done.... Also with Lemmy was Damon Johnson from Brother Cane/Alice Cooper and Kerri Kelly on guitars.
So that was the NAMM show...more info than ya ever thought ya needed!

SHAW/BLADES: "INFLUENCES"

Jack Blades and Tommy Shaw of Damn Yankees/Styx/Night Ranger fame have recently realeased a record called "Influences". It is a CD of their favorite tunes they've covered. I did 8 songs with them back in 2004. It's finally seeing the light of day. They've been on XM radio/ Howard Stern/ VH1 etc...promoting it. They were very cool guys to work with and they did great job on this CD. While we were recording the drums at Jack's studio, the two of them would bust out into some harmonies with an acoustic. It was very impressive. They obviously have a great singing/writing chemistry together and it was a pleasure to do some recording with them. Jack and Tommy, thanks for the kind words on VH1 regarding my drum tracks!

IDOL/THEO/McG/SHERINIAN/MASTERSOURCE/FOREIGNER...

What else? ....Been putting ideas together for Billy Idol. We will be getting together soon. I have finally seen some of the Idol Live DVD footage filmed in Chicago last Summer. It looks and sounds real good. Don't know when it will be out but it will.

I'm writing/recording/performing all instruments and voxs on some new songs for a company called Mastersource. They get my songs along with a ton of others in all kinds of TV shows and movies. I've been working with them for years and it's an interesting way to approach songwriting; you know it's not for your band or someone or thing in particular but it's got to be good enough to get the attention of the peoople who place the music in the TV shows, etc... Sometimes you end up writing stuff that you don't want to give away and keep for something down the road. Those songs may never have been written had you not been hired to write in the first place. Anyhow, it's a bit of a challenge but since I do it all myself from top to bottom, I work at my own pace and answer to no one. And that, my friends, is what we're all looking for! The songs I've written for Mastersource have ended up shows and movies such as C.S.I., Law And Order, The 40 Yr. Old Virgin, Darkness Falls, The Osbournes, One Tree Hill, Touched By An Angel, Supergroup, and a whole mess of others.
Also, just finished up a CD for a Greek guitar god named Theodore Ziras. He's a pretty insane player that recruited Derek Sherinian and myself to play on his new CD. We will be putting some MP3's up of Theo soon. It's metal-fusion-shred at its finest!
Derek Sherinian and I are also writing for his new CD. It's in the baby stages but as always there's gonna be some pretty aggressive/progressive new stuff on Derek's next CD.
Also doing some recording with Idol bassist Steve McGrath. He's got a surf movie he's working on so we are putting some high energy ideas together for that.
A few weeks ago Foreigner flew me in to Aspen, Colorado as a backup to their drummer, Jason Bonham. Apparently, due to schedule changes, travel and weather conflicts, there was a chance Jason's plane wasn't going to get him to the show on time. I got there, did soundcheck and an 1 1/2 hours before the show Jason pulled in to town. It was cool see the guys again and a very intersting/different/unique/strange way to be hired for a show! ..."I'm flying to Aspen to be on hold for Foreigner if Jason doesn't make the gig. No, I don't know if I'm playing."
I didn't even bring sticks! Now that's pretty funny!

So there's a few months of goings-ons.

Get the Shaw/Blades "Influence" CD. Check out Theodore Ziras' new CD. Listen to me and Billy Idol's version of The Who's "Long Live Rock" on his and my myspace page. We recorded it back in February of 2004. I tweaked the mix a bit and Billy sounds killer.

Also, check out the short clip of Billy with The Starf**kers singing Van Halens "Ain't Talkin' Bout Love" on our myspaces. Thanks to any and all for your interest and support. I know, I really need to get this site updated. I will......

Brian

11-23-06 UPDATE: Foreigner
So Jason Bonham plays drums in Foreigner. He's been playing with them for a couple years now. I used to play drums in Foreigner from '98 up to the beginning of '00. Billy Idol and Foreigner played back to back this Summer at the Sturgis Bike Rally in South Dakota. Jason sounds great with Foreigner and they sound great with him. It was cool to see them again and made me remember how much fun it was to play all those Foreigner hits. They have so many great classic rock songs.
Anyway, it's strange how things go round.... Jason recently injured his wrist and will be out of commission for a bit. He rang me up to see if I was available to fill in while he gets better. So I will be jumping back with the Foreigners for about 5 shows in December. I am really looking forward to it but wish it didn't have to happen at Jason's expense. I don't have the exact dates yet, but some are in Texas and one is in Oklahoma.
There ya have it....check 'em out if ya can..... Thanks to Jason for thinking of me, and thanks to Mick Jones and the rest of Foreigner for letting me have some fun jamming with them again.

11-22-06 UPDATE: The Site, Billy Idol Xmas CD, and Eddie Van Halen
OK, so the site hasn't gotten overhauled yet. We have been experimenting with new types of fonts and materials that have left us in awe, mystified and downright perplexed! And semi-laziness coupled with non-website related matters of importance have added in to the equation of why the site hasn't changed also... But on the other side, a Brian Tichy myspace has gotten up and running. Go to www.myspace.com/briantichy. That should get you there. Maybe you need to set up an account first to get in. I'm honestly not sure right yet.... There are new pictures on the myspace. I will put them all up HERE as well. They include pictures from a party I played at Eddie Van Halen's house a month or so ago. There is also a new/old song of mine, ("S.O.S. Goodbye") posted there as well. The following is what has been posted on the myspace page...
------------------------------------------------
After the Billy Idol tour ended mid-August, I went back into the studio to finish the Xmas CD Billy and I have been recording this year. "Billy Idol: Happy Holidays" is currently available through Billy's website by clicking HERE, and will be available at Best Buy and a label in Europe. We just finished mixing and mastering at Matt Sorum's "Drac Studios". We really tried to make a CD that will add to the spirit of the holidays, not some cute gimmick. Check Billy's comments out about the CD at www.billyidol.net.
Anyhow, at the same time as I was feeling that I didn't want to go right back in the studio and stop playing out live, my friends that have a band "The Starf**kers" called. They play every week at the Cat Club in Hollywood. The band includes Eric Dover, (ex. Jellyfish, Snakepit, Alice Cooper) on vox, Stefan Adika, (ex. Dee Dee Ramone) on bass, John Corabi, (ex. Motley Crue) on gtr., Dizzy Reed, (G-n-R) on keys, and Derek Sherinian, (Billy Idol) on keys as well. I've jammed with all of them in one capacity or another over the years. They needed a drummer for the next month, so I filled in.
A couple weeks later, someone who knows someone who knows someone suggests that we should be the house band at a party Eddie Van Halen is having in his backyard at the end of September, ("The Gathering"). Of course we are psyched. This included Eddie wanting to rehearse with us the day before the party in his backyard.
We rehearsed, then the next day played the party.
The whole damn thing is still totally surreal to me. Eddie was without a doubt one of my top 3 influences and inspirations growing and practicing drums and guitar. I saw the Diver Down tour, learned all the drum licks on every David Lee Roth era record, and VH was one of my favorite bands growing up. I wasn't just into Van Halen, I looked for stuff to learn from them. So there ya have it. I played with one of my all time idols. I received more than enough kind words from him and he was beyond nice and treated us all with total respect. Chalk this up as one my career highlights... Playing Neil Peart's drums at Madison Square Garden, touring with Ozzy Osbourne and this. Go to www.youtube.com, type in Eddie Van Halen and you can see some little bootleg clips of this. Here are some pictures: #1, #2, #3, #4, and #5.
By the way, we all know how great Eddie is and there is no doubt about how much ground he's broke on guitar. But, what is not talked about that much that I got to feel first hand, was his GROOVE. His natural internal feel is so heavy, slinky and fat. It is rare to play with someone that locks up with so little effort yet is so "there". Eddie has it all together and always has.... It was beyond an honor to get that kind opportunity. ------------------------------------------------
Also, Billy Idol's "Happy Holidays" Christmas CD is available through www.billyidol.net and www.myspace.com/billyidol. It will also be in Best Buy next week for about a month....
You can hear some of the songs on Billy's myspace page as well as view a couple of the vids we did.
I'm real happy with the CD. The two of us did it ourselves in my little excuse for a studio. Billy sounds great on it. The CD is supposed to be played right in between all the other Chritmastime standard CD's. Can the Billy Idol Christmas CD sound cool in the background during the holdays? If we achieved that, then we did exactly what we wnated to do. Hope ya dig it....
On Billy's myspace page, you can also hear our version of Barry McGuire's "Eve Of Destruction". We did that this Summer in my studio as well. If you haven''t heard the original, you'll be surprised after hearing our version. The Beatles tribute CD, "Butchering The Beatles" is out very soon. Billy, Steve Stevens and myself (with Blasko from Rob Zombie and Ozzy on bass) covered "Tomorrow Never Knows". We had nothing to do with the cover of the CD!
So, for now, that's it. But soon I'll be getting some video uploaded of random stuff as well as some new tunes.
Thanks for the interest.....

08-05-06 UPDATE!!!

Howdy. This site is soon to be completely overhauled. Yeah, it's finally gonna get bumped up a bit. We'll try to get a bunch of new things happening on it. There will be new music to check out, old music to check out, more frequent updates, new pictures, video clips of tons of different drum footage over the years, guitar footage, BALL live footage, maybe some BALL rehearsal footage, goofy soundcheck stuff, wacky backstage stuff, equipment lists, lists of stuff that doesn't matter, contests! give-aways! Bingo games! raffles!... whatever it ends up having on it will be an improvement to what it is now...

2005 was finished out with Billy Idol's European Tour. A grand time all the way around!

Soon after the Idol tour, Derek Sherinian and I started writing some music that would eventually find its way onto his "Blood Of The Snake" CD. The first was "The Monsoon". Zakk Wylde and J.D. from BLack Label Society kicked ass all over that. Yngwie Malmsteen also did quite a bit of shredding on it as well. Other songs written were "Prelude To Battle", "Viking Massacre", "Man With No Name" and the title track "Blood Of The Snake". Zakk did a great job with the vocals on "Man With No Name". Click HERE to go to Derek's site and check some of the tunes out...

Derek also wanted to cover Mungo Jerry's hit "In The Summertime". Billy Idol sang, Slash played guitar and talkbox, Tony Franklin played bass and I tried to go for a big 'ol Physical Graffiti drum sound. We were all pretty happy with it. So a few days before the Idol tour, we all managed to get in a room together and shoot a video. You can check it out HERE. One song, one video, one time...The Rebellious Yellers!

"Blood Of The Snake" was just released 8.1.06. Derek and I wrote, recorded, mixed and produced 1/2 of it mostly at Beachwood Manor, (his studio) and What Vince Where Studios, (mine). Other players on it are Simon Phillips, John Petrucci and Brad Gillis. Check it out...

Back in the Idol world, the 2 of us started demo-ing up a new batch of tunes. Two of those songs, "Touch My Love" and "Cry" would go on to being performed in Billy's 2006 European/U.S. Tour. The European Tour started around 6.28.06 and took us from Finland to Russia, from Bulgaria to Hungary, from Romania to Serbia and to some other countries I had never been to...

We got back to the States and filmed a live DVD in Chicago. We included the new songs in that set as well.

On 8.6 we will be playing at the Sturgis Bike Rally thing in South Dakota where we play right after Foreigner. That's a first for me...playing a festival with another band that I played drums with for 2 years. I'm looking forward to seeing Foreigner. We will finish up the tour in California, on 8.19 at the JACK-FM festival at Irvine Meadows. And that is yet another show you should attend...

Other Idol news: In May, Steve Stevens, Billy and myself recorded the Beatles classic, "Tomorrow Never Knows" for an upcoming Beatles tribute CD produced by Bob Kulick. It should be out by year's end...

In the world of Stevie Salas: we got together at What Vince Where Studios (my studio, I just like writing the name) in June and got drums down to one of his new songs. We were both on "beyond super tight schedules" so that's all we could get done before I went on tour.

In June, Stevie was also in the studio with Bernard Fowler and Dave Abbruzeese mixing new versions of a couple my old songs, "Trapped Like A Rat" and "Planet Earth Blues". These are old BALL songs that Bernard resung and Stevie played some new guitars on. Abbruzeese did the mixing and this should all end up on a Nickelbag CD later this year.

For those who don't know, Nickelbag is a band that Stevie and Bernard put together in '94 with myself and Carmine Rojas on bass. 2 CD's were released; "Ten Hits And A Bump" and "Mas Feedback". Dave Abbruzeese also played some drums on these records and Doug Wimbish was the bass player when Carmine wasn't available. It was actually a pretty cool band but it never got the attention it deserved. Bernard Fowler is a badass singer/frontman/personality. He's been singing backups with The Stones for a long time and it was great watchin' him deliver the goods as the frontman in Nickelbag.

So Stevie and Bernard have gotten a best of/anthology/box set/type thing together which will include a couple of my tunes done Nickelbag style as well as anything else Nickelbag has recorded. I think it'll be out by the end of the year.

In May, I spent a day over at Richie Kotzen's studio doing a few drum tracks for bass guru Marco Mendoza's new solo CD. That should be out real soon.

That's all for now, look for this site to be new and improved. Video footage is currently being sifted through and there will be a steady flow of rarities and irregularites coming soon...

09-27-05 UPDATE!!!

Slash, Duff, Dave, Scott and Matt ..... thanks for giving me the opportunity to hold down the rhythmic fort for you guys......It was an honor and a privilege to be a part of the mighty rock machine that is known as Velvet Revolver..... At the end of July, with 3 shows to go before a 3 week break in the Idol tour, I got a call from the good people over in the Velvet Revolver camp. Drummer Matt Sorum had broken his hand and was unable to do the upcoming tour. I talked to Velvet Revolver's guitarist Slash and he wanted to see if I was available to fill in. I accepted the challenge... With a little bit of schedule juggling and a copy of their cd, I started to get it all together. I flew back to LA 3 days later, got in a cab and went straight to rehearsal. I did 7 shows with the guys and then flew back to LA for about a day and a half. I then got back on a plane and flew to Canada to start back up with Billy for the next month.

Playing with Velvet Revolver was great. I've known Slash for a long while now, (I toured with him in '95 when he released the first Snakepit record.) I've also known Matt, Duff and Dave for quite some time as well. They are a killer band. Slash has always been one my favorite guitar players and it was as inspiring as ever to play with him again. And what about Duff? Since Appetite came out, I've always thought his bass tone was bad ass. Scott's a great front man, Dave kicks ass and Matt made up a bunch of cool drum parts to dig into.

All in all, the whole "tour hopping" experience was not unlike that of drunken clown juggling expensive silverware while balancing a seal from his nose who, in turn, is balancing a beach ball from its nose. All the while the clown's drunken clown friends throw raw meat and W.A.S.P cds at him with the soundtrack from Rocky I coming from the left side and Chariots Of Fire coming from the right! This all happens right after Halford, Gillan, Cornell, Plant and Buckley have a "high note hitting" contest with King Diamond as the judge... Just then Brian Johnson walks in and takes over! He sings a verse and a chorus of "Hell's Bells" with Meshuggah as his backup band. Since everyone loves Brian Johnson, they all go get a beer and wrap up the night in full agreement that Angus Young really is the baddest rock guitar player ever. This makes Brian Johnson real happy. He has a good night sleep......

The Idol tour continues with shows in CA in September; Texas and Florida in October and Europe in November and December. Go to www.billyidol.com for exact dates. Drink in Dublin, smoke in Amsterdam, get stupid in Stockholm, freak out in Frankfurt! Europe and Billy Idol....what a combo! What are you waiting for?!! Come on! Until next time, take care of yourself.....

06-27-05 *******UPDATE !!!********* (and some new pics)
Howdy....
...On a 2 week break form the IDOL tour... We got back from Europe where we played a bunch of festivals. The response was great. We played with Velvet Revolver, Oasis, The Used, Mudvayne, Meshuggah and a bunch of others. Because the Idol show went over so well, we will be going back again in the Fall doing our own proper tour.
Being able to finally see Meshuggah live was killer. They are the best heavy band going, as far as I'm concerned. ...Stood on the side of the stage and banged my head for a half an hour....
...Ran into Tommy Lee at the hotel on the last day of the tour in Italy. Motley Crue were playing later that night at a different festival. We all went over and checked them out. They sounded great. I haven't seen him play with Motley since "Girls, Girls Girls" and he still inspires me the same as he did in high school! He really is one of the baddest rock drummers ever.
We also just did the Jimmy Kimmel show live outside in his parking lot- turned rock stage. It aired Thursday, 6.23. (I guess I really should post this stuff prior to it actually happening.)
....Some advance to some more Idol happenings ...
Bam Margera (Viva La Bam) and co. filmed an episode based around the Billy Idol show in Atlantic City last month. Billy ends up participating in sawing off the roof of Bam's 250,000.00 Lamborghini. Bam brought his Mom to the Idol show for her b-day. The show ends with all of us (about 50 people, Billy included) crashing his parents' hotel room in the middle of the night and security coming up and kicking everyone out. Bam's a great guy and he and his family are total Idol fans. With that said, I just found out the Viva La Bam/ Idol episode should be airing Sunday, July 3rd on MTV. I don't know the time and all that stuff and maybe my dates are wrong, but this is what I've heard so far....so check it out, it's some pretty damn funny stuff....
The Idol tour starts back up July 1st through the U.S. We are doing a bunch of Warped tour dates and we are also playing the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago.
...And, I've recently switched drum companies. I used to play DW but am now using Tama. I played Tama through high school and college, I toured with that same kit around the country in a van with Vinnie Moore. The Tamas even made it onto Rush's stage at Madison Square Garden in '93 when Vinnie Moore opened 10 shows for Rush. Back in high school, Neil Peart was a main reason I wanted to play Tamas. So I've finally gone back to playing what I grew up playing. DW makes great drums but it was time for a change. I'm glad Tama was interested because they were the only company I was really considering....
And finally, I just did an interview with Modern Drummer Online. It should be up in August. There will be a mention of it and a picture in the back of MD's next issue, (I think they call it their "October" issue.)
Just a reminder, since this a very "drummer-friendly " post...
You've gotta check out Vinnie Appice's playing on Black Sabbath's "Mob Rules" and Dio's "Holy Diver"! His drums sound badass and his groove is killer. He is way underrated. He deserves so much more credit for those recordings than he gets...
And there ya have it....Tichy (CLICK HERE for the new pics...)

05-03-05 THE UPDATE: Whatever, check out the new pics!
The new Billy Idol CD "Devil's Playground" came out last month (March 23rd). I co-wrote 8 of the 13 tracks on the CD with Billy, including the first single/video "Scream", the next single "Cherie", and the next Canadian single, "World Comin' Down". Oh yeah, I also play drums on the record.
Billy kicks ass all over the CD, proving he's still one of the best front men/vocalists going. It's a very good representation of all things Billy Idol. It's also a very guitar driven record. Steve Stevens sounds great.
We've been touring the U.S. since March. We've done Dick Clark's New Year's Party, Leno and Good Morning America. We will be doing Conan in May and Jimmy Kimmel in June.
We will also be doing a bunch of big European festivals in June, a bunch of Warped Tour dates in July, Lollapalooza, as well as Australia, Japan, etc... throughout the rest of the year.
Go to http://www.billyidol.com for all kinds of details and tour info...
As for as the new pics.... CLICK HERE. I get a chance to play some guitar at the end of the show while our Asst. Tour Manager/Security guy/all around nice guy, Toast, jumps on drums. Steve and I do a little guitar battling and it really makes for a thoroughly enjoyable evening of rock!
Later, just another one of Bonham's biggest fans...

12-13-04 **************DIMEBAG!!!**************
To Vinnie, Damageplan, Pantera and all of Dime's friends and family....
I am so shocked by this. I feel so sorry for Vinnie and all of Dime's friends. Without a doubt, Dime was one of the baddest rock guitarists to ever walk the planet and one of the funniest people I've ever hung with. Rooms of people would gravitate around him and he's not even trying. Dime LIVED more than just about anyone I know. Don't bother trying to keep up with him. Undeniable non-stop creativity...
He was somebody I totally RESPECTED, LOOKED UP TO AND ENVIED. You couldn't deny his power, presence and charisma. He lived a lifestyle that revolved solely around his guitar, his music and the eternal party, not letting anything get in the way of having the best time possible. He really was larger than life. Watch the Pantera home videos!
Dime has been stealing the show ever since he unleashed the "Cowboys From Hell" riff back in '90. He and Pantera were laying down some new rules then! You can hear his influence in just about every band with heavy guitars!
At least Dime left so much incredibly powerful music to listen to in his memory...
Pantera has been my favorite metal band since "Vulgar" came out. I've ran many miles listening to that and "Far Beyond Driven".
Pantera was on the 2000 Ozzfest when I was playing drums for Ozzy. I was psyched to be playing for Ozzy, but I was also psyched to be on tour with Pantera. It was a daily ritual to warm up for the Ozzy show while watching Dime, Vinnie, Philip and Rex crush every night.
While I was on the side of the stage and they were playing "Walk", Dime was singing the backups in the chorus, screaming out "Tichy" instead of "Re" or "spect". Too funny.
I took Dime and Vinnie's bus from one city to the next one night and of course that was my biggest hangover of the year. We all ended up screaming to Metallica's "Kill 'Em All" and I woke up hours later passed out on the front lounge floor.
I feel privileged to have been able to be around Dime and experience his energy up close.
I can't believe there will never be a time when the world doesn't get to watch him play.
Bottom line is he was a genuine badass.
Anybody can shoot a gun but barely anybody can touch what Dime did in 38 years. It sucks to have to accept when a useless lunatic decides to do something so heinous, innocent people have no control over the self-centered retarded insanity... DIMEBAG FUCKIN" RULES! R.I.P.

11-05-04 ********UPDATE!!*********
Hello. All kinds of stuff going on.... Here it is....
BILLY IDOL: He and I wrote together for few months at the beginning of the year, then in April we started rehearsing and recording the new record. His first since "Cyberpunk" in '93. Billy is singing better than ever. In September, while the record was being mixed, we did 5 warm up shows leading up to KROQ's Inland Invasion. Billy turned the day into a true rock show. He made 50,000 people sound like 50,000 people. We are also playing KROQ's Acoustic Christmas in LA this year. The new CD should be out in March and the single in January. Go to BillyIdol.com for more info.
DEREK SHERINIAN: His new record "Mythology" is due out real soon. We co-wrote 1/2 of it together. I play drums on 1/2 the record as well as some bass and guitar. Derek and I also mixed 1/2 of it together. He has quite a cast of characters on this one...Steve Stevens, Simon Phillips, Allan Holdsworth, Zakk Wylde, John Sykes, Steve Lukather, and more... Everyone plays their ass off (ya gotta hear Holdworth ripping over some metal riffs!) and it's his best sounding record yet. We are still in the process of gettting our original band together, but whenever we think we have some time, one of gets too busy to get the whole job done. We had checked out some great singers but after months of working together, we both came to the conclusion that I will pound out the lead vox's. We had written a lot of the vox's together and rather than force somebody to sing a certain way, we decided to stick with what I was doing. We will be putting a name on this thing, finishing up the 5 song demo and getting it to labels real soon.
KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD: His new record, "The Place You're In" is out now. The single is called "Alive". I'm on drums on the whole damn thing! And Kenny's new bassist is none other than...Michael Devin! Yes, that's right! BALL/BLEED DEFEAT's bassist has moved onward! Kenny was putting a whole new band together so I told them Devin would be great, and he is, so he got it. He deserves to be touring, traveling and making dough playing and touring instead of hangin' around while a drummerless BALL hibernates...
TAK MATSUMOTO: He's the gtrst. from Japan's biggest rock band, "B'z". He released his solo record "The Tak Matsumoto Group: 1" this summer in Japan. I play drums on the whole thing except one song Cindy Blackman from Lenny Kravitz is on. It went platinum in Japan, as do all things B'z. I should be working with him again on the next B'z cd later this year. I'm on the last couple B'z cd's as well.
BALL/BLEED DEFEAT: Nothing....what with the making of Idol's record, Sherinian's solo record, trying get the Sherinian/Tichy project happenin' and having no drummer.....Nothing..... Fortunately, my songwriting has been used in other ways outside of a local unsigned band! But, I'd love to get out and do shows. It's just that I haven't taught myself how to play drums and play the riffs on gtr. at the same time. Maybe my 2 year old daughters can start helpin' by learning the riffs and grooves.... I think that's enough for now....
Oh yeah, you gotta go out and buy "Chaosphere", "Destroy, Erase, Improve", "Nothing" and "I" by Meshuggah. There are so many killer extreme metal bands out now and everybody's pushin' the speed boundaries as well as putting in tons of chops, but nobody's writing riffs like the mighty Meshuggah. And nobody grooves like them. Tomas Haake, Meshuggah's drummer, is the shit! It's a total study in extreme, syncopated, over the bar line madness with a point! I'll coin a new term and hopefully Sherinian and I can blend in to this new form of heaviness...Apocalyptic Metal! Later...

02-13-04 IT'S ABOUT TIME FOR AN UPDATE!!!!
Howdy. So it's been a while but here is an update on the past few months since the Billy Idol tour ended... BALL/BLEED DEFEAT (we're gonna stick with BALL for now) has been in a 1/2 assed state of limbo. Drummer Dorian Heartsong (who replaced original drummer Joe Travers in '03) is busy pursuing another original band (Dan Rocket) and hasn't had the time to commit to this band. We've been trying to find a new drummer via friends' recommendations and through our own connections. Well, that hasn't happened yet and we're still looking.

Anyone interested in getting us a demo/promo package can send it to:
BALL DRUMMER/TICHY
3940 Laurel Canyon Blvd. #442
Studio City, CA 91604
All demos will be responded to. Thanks in advance...

02-13-04 VOCALIST NEEDED!!
Derek Sherinian (keys, Billy Idol/Dream Theater/ Yngwie) and myself have been writing music for a new progressive metal band we are forming. We are currently looking for a vocalist. Please send promo packages to:
VOCALIST
3940 Laurel Canyon Blvd. #442
Studio City, CA 91604
or e-mail demo and JPEG to: leopardroom@aol.com

02-13-04 SOME MORE UPDATING.....
In the middle of December I recorded drums for the new Kenny Wayne Shephard record. We did 8 drum tracks in 2 days with producer/songwriter Marti Frederiksen. We may be getting back together in March or so to finish the rest of the drum tracks.

In January I recorded drums for "B'z" guitarist Tak Matsumoto's solo record. "B'z" is Japan's biggest rock band. They are huge over there. Like 3 nights at the Tokyodome huge! We will finish up the rest of the tracks in late March. Tak's solo record also includes Jack Blades (Night Ranger/Damn Yankees) on bass and Eric Martin (Mr. Big) on vocals.

Soon after the Tak sessions, Jack asked me to come up to his studio to record a record of classic rock covers he and Tommy Shaw (Styx, Damn Yankees) are starting. We did 8 tracks in 2 days. We may do some more soon.

In the Idol camp, new music is being finished and hopefully we will be getting in the studio soon.

09-04-03 WHOA!!!! IT"S A NEW UPDATE!!!!!!
Howdy. I am currently out on tour throughout the U.S. with Billy Idol. The tour started Aug. 24th and goes until Oct. 10th. Check billyidol.com for dates, info, etc... The band remains the same...myself, Steve McGrath, Derek Sherinian, Steve Stevens and Billy. Why don'cha take a break, enjoy yourself and come on down to an Idol show in your area? Good times all around! Anyhow, on the other side...
BALL has just gone double platinum in South America, Australia and Japan. Our "Tribute To Norwegian Death Metal: Goin' Platinum!" just went went platinum in, Norway! That was a knee-slapper! The truth is we changed the name to BLEED DEFEAT, switched some guys around and sent out a new CD with some new songs. We sent them to all kinds of interesting people. Through all this, we ended up getting new management and did a couple showcases for VERY powerful people at CAPITOL. Well, the powerful guy wanted to sign us, but the MOST POWERFUL MAN at Capitol chose to pass. He admitted not knowing how to handle a band that has the potential of selling at least 150,000,000 CD's in the first 6 months! Maybe I'm exaggerating a bit but it was nice to get a buzz goin' on at Capitol. We are planning on showcasing some more when I get home. Mgmt. is shopping as we speak...
So, BLEED DEFEAT is myself on gtr. and vox., Devin on bass, D.K. on drums and Mark Richard-Dannells on "speed/texture guitar". And damn it sounds good when we all play together! And that, my friends, is still the sole reason why we are doing it! Devin and myself took some time to get some new songs together and get new people involved. We changed the name because we didn't want anyone to form an opinion based on the fact that they may have seen or heard us in the past.
There ya have it. If you're interested in purchasing the new shit, click "here" for info. BLEED DEFEAT has 6 new songs, plus newly recorded versions of "Trapped Like A Rat" and "The Hand Of Emptiness".
As far as Zeppelin goes; after seeing and hearing the DVD and triple live CD, I've come to the conclusion that they are twice as good as I thought they were. HOLY SHIT! Don't even bother to debate it!
Oh yeah, on top of writing some more tunes with Derek Sherinian for his next CD, I may play drums on his live record in December. So I'll have to start practicing my metal-fusion chops! It could be challenging and fun to go mental on some metal-fusion (Musion drumming? Fusetal?) Anyway, go buy "Deep Purple: Made in Japan" even if only for Ian Gillan's scream at the end of "Lazy". Goodbye for not as long as before....

05-28-03 UPDATE...
Howdy. I am currently working on a new original band. We will give more details soon. No drastic changes. It is still mainly heavy, guitar driven shit with a bit of melody here and there, but we want it to be a fresh start without any preconceived opinions. We are just about to get the music out and shopped and see if anyone in interested. If so, then we will worry about playing out and/or doing showcases. It was fun to record and play live with BALL, but after hearing every excuse in the book and being around for a few years, it was time to try and start something new without it being tied into me being a drummer, confusion as to what happened with our record never coming out and all other stuff that clouds people's reaction to us. Maybe the truth is that we ain't that great, but I love playing gtr. and writing music so until I don't care about it, I'll keep doing it. It also doesn't hurt that we put out a cd in Japan and got signed the same year to a U.S. deal. The new shit isn't that much different and we're not coming out in space-age Elvis, Vegas-era suits or anything like that. We just want to be listened to as a new band. We will give more detail when it seems worth it to... As far as the Billy Idol stuff goes, we are doing a U.S. tour at the end of Aug. for a couple months. There may be some more dates in Nov. and Dec. as well. The new record hasn't been started yet. Billy and Steve are writing new stuff and feel like it should wait for a bit... Once again and as always, thanks for all interest and support.

02-24-03 THE GREAT WHITE/ STATION/ PYRO TRAGEDY
What a completely unbelievable occurrence! I was shocked when I heard of it. To think of how all the friends and families of the people who didn't get out are dealing with this is awful. There are conflicting stories of whether or not the band had permission to use the pyro, but no matter what, neither the club nor the band would have ever foreseen the situation getting as out of control as it did. Thoughts, prayers, etc... to all involved.

01-28-03******BALL: LIVE IN '03!!!********
YES!!!! Click here for the first 3 gigs of '03!
Being that Joe Travers has Bingo on Friday nights, he can't do 2 of these shows and Mr. Dorian Heartsong (ex-Powerman 5000/current Flying Tigers bassist) is filling in. That's right. On drums! No shite! Joe has some session work booked already those nights, so what's BALL to do? If the gigs were at the Forum, we'd probably cancel or change the date. Or, we take some of the $ we'd be making and take better care of Joe so he'd only have one job to worry about. Then again, we wouldn't have this problem to begin with. But, back to reality. I wanna play some shows and since we're still in the same boat of "unsigned bands sailing the seas of A+R confusion", any move we make is a move that is better than no move at all. "If you choose not to decide you still have made a choice." Anyhow, there are shows coming up and y'all should be there.
Idol news; go to BillyIdol.com... There is some new stuff happening right around the corner. Will post when it's official...
Chore for the week; buy the DVD "Dogtown and Z-boys". It's a documentary on the LA 70's skateboard scene and how it transformed youth culture. It has THE best soundtrack going. This movie is inspirationally badass!
Oh, and when did it become alright for sore losers and chaos "hanger-onners" to riot in the name of sports? It's not like the quarterback didn't show up and the game was cancelled! Dumbasses!! It's news like this that everyone should take note of. If you're out there participating in that horse shit, then you deserve to work a minimum wage job your whole life and have nothing to show for it in the end. Spend that energy finding some sort of talent you may have. I can only imagine what goes through those kind of people's minds when they're alone..... .... ... .... ... .... ... Nothing!! Blank! "What's on TV?" "Where's the remote?" "I'm hungry!" "Can I borrow some money?" "Shit, now I'm tired again." ....Jackasses! (That was funny, if I do say so myself!) I'm sure Ronnie James Dio wasn't out there. He was probably writing some ass kicking medieval style lyrics!

09-23-02TICHY TWINS/TRAVERS FILLS IN AS IDOL'S DRUMMER???
In case you don't know, my wife and I are expecting twin girls at the beginning of October. Billy Idol is going to do an Australian tour at that same time. Unfortunately I can't go, but I have to be here for the birth of my babies. When it became apparent that I wasn't going to be able to do the tour, I recommended Joe Travers. So Joe came down, did a great job and is filling in for me. He sounds great with the band. I want to thank Joe for getting myself and the Billy Idol band out of a potential jam, and for rising to the occasion and delivering the goods. ...And this is yet another reason why Joe Travers has proven to be one of the best drummers around, bar none. And by the way, we played The Cat Club 9/21. We covered Moby Dick and Joe did one of the most badass drum solos I've ever witnessed. Right up there with Peart, Bonham, Bozzio and Buddy Rich.

09-05-02MORE NEW BALL GIGS IN SEPTEMBER!

09-04-02*********BALL ALIVE AGAIN IN LA!************
*********IDOL LIVE IN CA!************

BALL has new gigs in September! Go to "upcoming live shows for dates... After finishing up a 5 week tour of the US and Canada, Billy Idol (with Tichy on drums) is playing the Harley Davidson festival on Sat., Sept. 7th in Fontana, CA with STP. This may be Billy's last CA show of the year. Go check it out...

07-26-02TICHY ON TOUR WITH IDOL ....AND NEW KEYBOARDIST JOINS!!
Yes, I'm out for my 2nd Summer tour with Billy Idol. We are hitting a bunch of places in the States as well as a week in Canada. Mr. Steve Stevens is still (as he always should be) on guitar. Steve McGrath is back and continues to incessantly down pick the low end 1/8 notes on bass. But wait, there's a new keyboardist in the mix....It's none other than........the keyboardist's keyboardist... the hardest working keyboardist in the music business... the keyboardist with the full page add in KEYBOARD magazine showing off his new keys for 3 months in a row!...a man all too friendly with Mother Nature... a man that should be hired as a solo analyst to Edward Van Halen if he ever needs to refresh his memory on his DLR era solos...... Mr. DEREK SHERINIAN!!!! When I found out that Billy needed a new keyboardist, I thought Derek was probably going to be too busy. (I think he's in 14 bands or so). But, upon mentioning it, he was ready to go. 2 days later, he came down and took over! And now that he's got the job and everybody digs him, I take full credit for getting him in the band!!!!!!!It was all me!!!!!! And from this point on, I take full credit for anything positive that happens in his career! So, come see the Billy Idol Tour, BillyIdol.com if we get near your neck of the woods. Derek adds yet another element of excitement to the power that is BILLY IDOL!!!

07-26-02HEY! WHAT'S UP WITH BALL? DON'T YOU HAVE DEAL YET? WHAT'S THE PROBLEM?
We're too good looking. That's the problem. So I'm starting a boy band. ....BALLBOY.....We're gonna take all the distorted gtrs. out of the mix, and then we're gonna add nice airy harmonies on top of all the vocals. We might have to change some song titles though. "Trapped Like A Rat" will become "Trapped In Your Love". "Backslide" will become "Loveslide". "Sweet Goodbyes" will become...(well I guess that can stay the same). And of course, "Surfrider" will become "Loverider". Oh, and "Bleed Defeat" will become "And I Kiss Her Feet". This is getting stupid.... I'm writing a bunch of new stuff. **If you order the new BALL cd, "A Study In Persistence", it now comes with 2 new songs, "Pool Of You" and "Killing Time". If you don't like these than you probably don't own Physical Graffiti or Mob Rules. And that's a real problem. But what do I know, I dig Supertramp! BALL will continue listening to every excuse in the book while we continue to secure a deal. I mean, what else are we gonna do, break up? We haven't been dropped yet. We haven't done enough drugs. We haven't kicked anyone out of the band yet. We haven't even written a disco type hit. We haven't changed direction, put on warpaint and called ourselves new "character names". None of our wives or girlfriends manage the band yet. Shit, we have plenty of bridges to cross. I haven't yet ordered an 18' chrome ball , in which drops center stage, trashing all around it. But when it comes it's only 18" and it merely bounces off stage like an empty plastic Aquafina bottle! All these things to look forward to. Enjoy yourselves......Tichy

06-05-02 Tichy Private Lessons!!
While on tour this July and August with Billy Idol, I will be offering private drum and/or guitar lessons. We will be touring throughout the US and Canada. Unfortunately a drumset will not be available in the hotels. But there is still plenty that can be covered in the form of warm-up excercises, hand/wrist/finger techniques, rudiments, hand-foot independence, speed excercises, etc... Lessons will be $100.00 p/hr. On show days lessons can only be in the afternoons. Off days are usually spent in the city we are playing the following day. To set up a private lesson, contact me at ballmusic@hotmail.com. Or call 818.569.5449. Please contact at least five days ahead to avoid last minute scheduling conflicts and to allow time for messages to be retrieved.

05-18-02 FOREIGNER: BEHIND THE MUSIC
I (me, Brian) played drums for Foreigner from '98 until the beginning of '00. They were great people to work for. At the end of April, their "Behind The Music" special debuted on VH-1. If you catch it, look closely at the beginning and at the end of it, you can see my couple seconds of air time. It's a great special and you realize you forgot how many classic rock songs they've written. Go check them out this Summer with Denny Carmassi on drums.

05-18-02 TICHY AND SHERINIAN!
Brian has been writing a bunch of music with keybaordist extraordinaire Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, Planet X, Yngwie) for Derek's upcoming solo record. Musicians include in no particular order: Sherinian, Billy Sheehan, Tony Franklin, Al DiMeola, Zakk Wylde, Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Lukather, and Simon Philips (on drums and producing). Tichy will be on at least a couple tracks playing gtr. It should be available in Sept.

05-08-02 TONIGHT WE'RE GONNA ROCK YA, (TONIGHT)!!!!!!!
BALL is playing a last minute live show tonight (Wednesday, May 8th) @ The Alley @9:45 pm. We are videotaping this to have new footage of the new lineup. This show is FREE!! Yes, you heard right! It's FREE!!!!! Bring whoever you want! We will have some beer there, but if you are all psyched on drinking heavily and irresponsibly , you might want to bring some of your own. We only have the room until 11pm, so unfortunately we can't have an all out raging all nighter! But, in that short span of time, we will try to entertain you! Hope to see you there! BALL The Alley : 818-980-9122 Address: 5066 Lankershim, Between Magnolia and Riverside (South of Magnolia). Enter in the back.

04-23-02 BALL IN THE LA TIMES!
BALL would like to thank Heidi Siegmund Cuda for her kind words in the Calender/Club Buzz section of the LA Times on April 18th. "I'm waving my pompoms for BALL, my new favorite heavy rock band spotted at Monday's Camaro Club. Brian Tichy is dy-no-mite, particularly considering he's really a drummer (he plays with Ozzy, Billy Idol and Slash)." (Heidi Siegmund Cuda) Well thanks! Do you have your own label?

04-23-02 BALL/ MIRROR DOWN...Too much confusion!
For those who care, we are going to continue on with the name BALL, not Mirror Down. It's too confusing for people already familiar with us. We thought with new members, new tunes and an unreleased CD under a name that some labels and such have assumed incorrectly about, it would be a wise change. We were wrong. Plus there are too many "Down" named bands already. We have new shows booked. See details in the Upcoming Live Shows section.

03-27-02 RANDY CASTILLO: REST IN PEACE...
Randy was a good friend, a very cool person, and a very influential drummer for many years who did more in his lifetime than most. It saddens me that such a nice guy, who we all thought beat cancer, was taken from us, while people that should never have been born in the first place still walk among us! Thoughts and prayers go out to all his friends and family. Brian

03-21-02 NEW GIGS! NEW BASS PLAYAH! WE JUST CAN'T STOP!!!!
Go to "upcoming live shows" for the 3 upcoming live shows we are about to perform live at! They're coming up! Live! We are playing as " "MIRROR DOWN" (formerly BALL)". And look out for new bassist Michael Devin! We have found another 70's scumbag much like ourselves to continue the live assault! All I can say is that I did not think I'd find somebody to jump in, step up and fill Fingers' or Dorian's shoes. It's nice when shit like this works out!

02-11-02 BALL SEARCHES FOR BASS PLAYAH!
The aggressive, middle class metal tank known as BALL is currently searching for a bass player. BALL is based in LA. The band is led by gtrst./singer Brian Tichy. BALL has had a mastered CD, (American Aggression) on Time Bomb Recordings since Sept. 2000, but because of the label's lack of proper distribution, "AA" will not see the light of a release date on said label. BALL has had the fortune of having longtime friends Fingers, and Dorian from Powerman 5000 handling the bottom end. But both are now pursuing new full time projects. BALL has currently added 2nd gtrst. Mark Dannells, changed its name to "MIRROR DOWN", and is shopping a new deal. So, we need a Bass Playah! You NEED to love John Paul Jones, Zep, Purple, Sabbath, and all from Townshend, Angus Young, and Geddy Lee to Hetfield, Burton, Y.tim.K from R.A.T.M., Soundgarden and Pantera. You will not be playing to prerecorded loops! Your groove is your own! That's more important then your weight, dreads, tats, or lack thereof! Please send CD's, tapes, photos, and bios to; BALL CENTRAL/BASS PLAYAH c/o Randy Canis, 10 South Broadway Suite 2000, St. Louis, MO 63102. Please visit Briantichy.com for more info on BALL.

01-15-02 ****THE JAMITORS ARE COMING!!!*******
The Jamitors are recording this week. There should be an EP soon.

01-15-02 BALL/ MIRROR DOWN/ MARK DANNELLS? WHAT?
Hello all. We have a couple shows coming up and we're going with the name "MIRROR DOWN" instead of BALL. Why? For a couple reasons: Mainly because we have added a 2nd guitarist. Mark Dannells is a long time friend coming out from Atlanta to do these shows. Mark is a great guitarist who should only make the band sound bigger. But, if he screws up we're gonna leave him and all his shit on the street in Hollywood and he can figure it out from there! HA HA! We want to see how it sounds with double guitars, get me up in front and not have to play every note on guitar all night. And by doing this with a couple new songs thrown in, it's not really BALL anymore. We hope it's better in its own way. So, a new name, a new member, new songs and new shows...can't you taste the excitement???!!! To make matters a bit more confusing, we will be selling the BALL "American Aggression" CD in its entirety at the shows AND on this site for now. Correct address info. will be updated shortly. But if ya need it now, don't hesistate to e-mail with your inquiry. Tichy

01-14-02 TICHY IN MODERN DRUMMER!!
Well, what do ya know. Check out the newest issue of Modern Drummer (Mar. '02) with the Creed drummer onthe cover, go to pg. 26 and you'll see my mug as well as some info. and kind words. (Click HERE to read the article.) Thanks to Billy Amendola at MD for getting it together. But, I should add that I can't ever in my life remember using the term "dream gig". Though I would if Plant, Page and Jones got together and let me have the honor of keeping time for them! Note to drummers: Not only can you hear Bonham's kick pedal squeaking on "Since I've Been Loving You", you can also hear it in "Houses Of The Holy". You gotta listen closely. And, more importantly, all rock drummers take note that the intro of "Rock and Roll" does NOT start on the "1" of a 4 bar phrase with a few extra 1/8 notes thrown in at the end to make it sound wacky and confusing. It starts on the "and" of "3", 3 1/8 notes before the down beat of the 4 bar phrase. Listen to the gtr. intro of Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode" and you'll hear a very similar motif. And I think that's where the mighty Bonham got it from. I feel much better having gotten that off my chest......Tichy

01-11-02 NEW SHOWS! NEW SONGS! NEW NAME! NEW MEMBER! ALL IN JANUARY!!! MORE INFO SOON!!
For now, go to "upcoming shows" to get new show info.

12-23-01 HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!
BALL is writing new stuff and trying to get out of it's stagnant record deal by the beginning of the year. There will be shows booked in Jan. Don't know if it will still be called BALL, or MIRROR DOWN. Don't know just yet if it will still be a trio or if a 2nd gtrst. will be involved. But one way or another, things will be rollin' soon. On the Billy Idol side of things, we are still working on new songs for a new record. Once in the new year they will decide more about starting to actually record. But for now we have 4 shows between Xmas and the new year. (Anaheim, San Diego, and Vegas on New Year's Eve). Once again, a big thanks goes out to anyone who has come to the shows this year. Have great holidays! Tichy

12-01-01 News Flash: Joe Travers makes the grade!
Mr. Joe Travers is in Modern Drummer's Update section this month. (Jan. '02, Slipknot's drummer on cover). We're very proud of little Joey. Congrats! Also, you can find out everything you ever wanted to know about Joe by visiting JoeTravers.com. I, (Brian) will also be in Update section of the March '02 issue of Modern Drummer. It comes out in January. So go check it out if you get a chance. And also go get the DVD of "The Song Remains The Same".

11-26-01 GOING DEEP INTO THE ARCHIVES...
Why we've waited so long to post this info. is anyone's guess. Oh yeah, I remember. We were supposed to be releasing and promoting our debut CD, "American Aggression" this year, and that WAS the main thing on our minds here at briantichy.com. Well, time is tickin' and things are changin'... For anyone interested, in May of 1999, BALL released "The Grand Human Disaster Scenario" on Big M.F. Records in Japan only. The CD was initially the demos Brian recorded at Gilby's studio throughout '97 and '98. While in Japan on another tour, Brian gave the demos to label A+R head and long time friend Kuni Takeuchi. The deal soon followed. "The Grand Human Disaster Scenario" and "American Aggression", (the CD on Time Bomb that is mastered, yet unreleased on Time Bomb Recordings due to the label having no distribution for the past year) have 10 songs in common. "T.G.H.D.S." has 3 songs that are not on "A.A."; a studio original called "King Size", a live bonus track of "Trapped Like A Rat" and a hidden track, which is a edited version of "Gone Sour". Why are you being assaulted with all this overly-detailed information? Because, if you are interested, you can go to either http://www.amazon.com or http://www.cdnow.com and order "The Grand Human Disaster Scenario" as an import*!!!! Yes, it's true! You can be the proud owner of this rarity! Everyone who is a fan of exciting, bad ass metal should own a copy of this. You will be the hippest person on your block, if not the talk of the town! What are you waiting for? O.K., we admit, it's expensive as shit, but you're worth it. You owe it to yourself! Don't be the last one on your block, in your office, at the bar, the bowling alley, or on the yacht to own this! And what better time then now? The holiday season is right around the corner! Don't embarrass yourself at the holiday party by being the only one who doesn't know the lyrics to "Planet Earth Blues" or "Trapped Like A Rat" when everyone's singing carols and BALL songs!!! "When you're down in the dumps, and you need somethin' to bring ya up, there's only one thing that's gonna do it the way you want it." THE GRAND HUMAN DISASTER SCENARIO!!!! *That's why it's so damn expensive! **For Amazon... click HERE. ***For CD Now... click HERE. While you're there, order a Zeppelin CD for a friend!

11-26-01 New band, new song update! Lookout!
Hello, fellow metalers... ALright, so maybe I'm starting a new band called "MIRROR DOWN". And maybe I've put up an MP3 file of the new smash, "Let It Shine". (Did I say "smash"). And then, maybe you can send an e-mail to mirrordowncentral@hotmail.com and let me know what you think of it. Give it anything from a "1" to a "10". Or a "-10" to a "+10" A "1" meaning, "Brian, shut up and stick to the drums". Or a "10" meaning, "I will not be able to live another day if I don't hear that song again! I'm driving my car over to your house, demanding a copy of it while screaming the chorus over and over 'til the cops show up! It WILL get ugly!" You can add your own comments as well. But you know that, you can do whatever you want on the internet! Thanks. Tichy

10-31-01 Halloween Notes
BALL'S FINAL SHOW OF 2001! Friday, Nov. 9th @ Key Club, 9:00 Pummeling through all the hits!
On the drum side of things, I was in San Jose Oct. 19-21 playing 2 days at The Shoreline Ampitheater with Billy Idol for Neil Young's "Bridge School Annual Benefit Concert." We did a cover version of BuffaloSpringfield's "For What It's Worth". Neil Young played lead guitar on the original. He watched us perform it at the first show. The next day he came up and played it with us. Needless to say, I was psyched. I would have never thought I'd be jamming with Neil Young, much less in front of 20,000 people. Very cool. In other Billy news, we have been demo-ing some new ideas with producer Don Was. Listen to Zeppelin!

10-21-01 The Gig is Cancelled!
BALL's show at "The Gig" has been cancelled. So get down to the Dragonfly @ 10:00 and watch BALL bulldoze through their set.

10-21-01 Dorian Heartsong
Tichy and Travers would like to thank Dorian Heartsong for filling in the past couple months in the bass dept. Dorian is a long time best friend (15 yrs) and an amazing bass player/musician. He is a crucial sound to his band, Powerman 5000, as well as anything he gets involved in. BALL bassist Fingers was out of the country and didn't know when he'd be back in town. Some gigs came up, Dorian was available, and there ya have it. Dorian will be doing the upcoming shows.

10-21-01 Bridge School Benefit
Oct. 20-21st: Brian Tichy is playing with Billy Idol at "Neil Young's Annual Bridge School Benefit" @ the Shoreline Ampitheatre in San Jose'. Other artists performing include: Ben Harper, Tracy Chapman, REM, Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews, and Neil Young and Crazy Horse.

10-11-01 Proud American
LIKE THE FEARLESS U.S BOMBER PILOTS OVER AFGHANISTAN, BALL IS LIVE AND ALIVE IN OCTOBER!!!!" Go to "Upcoming Shows" to see dates!!

9-20-01 Fuck Osama Bin Laden! I Want My Twin Towers!!
Firstly, my friends, family, wife and I send out a million thoughts, prayers, and condolences to all victims of the tragedies in NYC, DC, and Pa. This hits close to home because I'm from NJ, 40 mins. from NYC. My sis works there and my dad has business meetings in the World Trade Center. (He had a meeting scheduled on 9/11 at 9:30 am and, luckily, his train was stopped in NJ before it made it to NYC, due to the plane-bombs colliding into the WTC.) But, even though most of us heard that all in Afghanistan are celebrating over this evil, that's not the case. I was all gung-ho about the U.S. going over there and leveling the place. But, that would probably prove to be futile. That place has already been leveled. (Click HERE for more information. And, more importantly, whatever the U.S. does over there ain't gonna change the fact that we currently have psychotic terrorists here, now. That's the most scary part about all this. Death to them is religious ecstasy. I hope and pray that U.S. Intelligence knows and is learning a lot more about the terrorist underground in this country. Who cares about the rats on the street when they're in your kitchen!

I just watched a special on CNN my wife videotaped last month on life in Afghanistan. A woman went undercover and got some shocking footage. I wish I could remember her name 'cuz she had some balls. This special changed my view. It's a warzone over there. Even the Taliban themselves live like most musicians struggling to get a record deal.

Between that and this letter I've attached, I've realized I might as well enjoy life as it is now, because I have no idea what the hell's gonna happen in the next few months. Neither do you... I don't know shit, I'm just a drummer/guitarist guy, But I can't, as most can't, fully focus on anything else these past 7 days... Peace, Brian Tichy

9-20-01 GUEST LIST APOLOGY!!
This goes out to the 2 people who left messages on the "ALL BALL CALLS" # (818-569-5449) on the day of the Key Club show, Wednesday, Sept. 19th,'01. I didn't check the voice mail on the day of show. You both left messages in the a.m. about wanting to get on the Key Club list. Well, it would have been no problem had I checked the voice mail that day. It is not part of my home #. It is a "voice mail only" #. In the past, I used to tell people to call at least 24 hrs. before the show, because show days I'm always swamped, don't check e-mail and forget to check the voice mail. I have been forgetting to put that in the new e-mails for the shows, and I may have made you two pay by accident last night. So, I apologize. And, if you and guests showed up and had to pay, I will get you in to any 2 BALL shows you want. Just e-mail ballmusic@hotmail.com or call 818-569-5449, and leave your name and number. I'll contact you and straighten it out. *****And in the future, if anybody out there wants to get on any type of BALL list, please do the e-mail or phone call thing "24 hrs.In Advance". Thanks, and once again I apologize for any inconvenience. It's hard enough to get new people out to the shows, so I don't want to lose any potential BALL fans over my my guest list screw up! Sorry! Brian Tichy

9-14-01 New Shows!
BALL has new September shows. Go to Upcoming Gigs.

8-20-01 BALL and BILLY IDOL both continue...
After finishing a quick East Coast tour revolving around the MTV appearance, the BILLY IDOL tour continues up the West Coast, ending with a few shows at the Roxy in LA. BALL is still trying to find a new home and get the CD out! We will be playing live again at the end of Sept.

7-23-01 DRAGONFLY SHOWTIME CHANGED TO 8:30 PM, NOT 9:00
Please get to The Dragonfly on July 25th by 8:30 PM, NOT 9:00! We were misinformed for a few days. We felt like the police waiting on info. from Condit. But we had a band meeting, focused, adapted, and accepted this new challenge. Listen to Zeppelin.

7-19-01 More, More, More
Check out Brian's Top 5 CD's for July at http://www.rockreunion.com. They're in the "interview" section.

7-09-01 More, More, More
Check out the newest interview with BrianTichy @ http://www.rockreunion.com. It's a cool website and they did a great interview. There's almost more infomation in their interview alone than in this entire website! Just click on their interview section. Can I type the word "interview" again? Interview. Again?

*****TICHY WITH BILLY IDOL AND CO.*****
****LIVE ON MTV!****
From 8-11pm on Aug 1st, MTV will be live airing "20 Years of MTV", a special with all the original VJ's and important stuff like that. BILLY IDOL will perform one song live. There are some other bands, but the only other one we know of here at briantichy.com is the mighty Jane's Addiction. BALL was asked to play, being that they used to be called "The Buggles" and were the first band played on MTV. But all of us folks here at briantichy.com convinced Brian and Travers to keep that in the past. Fingers always hated "the Buggles" and declined to comment. He said, "I've always hated The Buggles and I decline to comment!" (...Interview!...) "When there's lightnin', ya know it always gets me down!!!!!!!!!!!!" -Later-

6-10-01 This Summer
Brian will be going out playing drums for Billy Idol from June 15th to July 9th. Go to http://www.billyidol.com for tour dates. "I got a call about Billy needing a drummer, so I went down, beat my drums up a bit, and everybody seemed happy! Billy sounds great, a total 100% performer! I forgot how diverse his music is! He's crooning, screaming, etc... And Steve Stevens is back on guitar. He's a total versatile badass player! I don't know anything he can't do on guitar. The band is tight. I'm looking forward to playin' live.

In between the Billy stuff, BALL will be doing some LA shows while we try and figure out our next move in this lovely business of music! Trust me, just because you get signed doesn't mean you're sailing smooth waters. It just means you got signed. But, we are still charging onward, and this band's record will see the light of day!!"

In other related news, Brian, Joe Travers, and Fingers have been working on a new "project" called "The Jamitors". Brian still plays gtr. and vox, Travers still plays drums, but Fingers is playing gtr. as well, and in this band, goes by the name Joe Taylor. It sounds like a good name for a gtr. player. On bass, is Wes Wehmiller, a groove lord. BALL has known Wes for years and they finally all got it together. "There has been a bunch of material lying around for years that is not really "BALL like", but cool. It's more open and funky in a kind of "vintage Aerosmith meets Hendrix, Sly Stone, the less heavy side of Zeppelin, and James Brown jamming at The Allman Brothers' rehearsal place" way. We don't really care what style this music is . We don't care if it's metal or reggae. We don't care if it has commercial viability in the record co.'s eyes. We just want to play together and be restriction free. We be takin' shit out!! Takin' the scenic routes! We will be trying to get in the studio before the end of summer." "Soon, we will be restructuring the site. Until then, deal with it." -Until next time-

******To anyone that has taken the time to come see BALL play or listened to the CD without being forced to, and actually enjoying it, THANKS!! When I see people at the shows I don't know, or get e-mail from people that dig the CD, or dug the live show, it makes all the bullshit worthwhile. So, thanks again!********

5-07-01 BALL in NYC!
BALL would like to THANK good friend EDDIE TRUNK for playing "TRAPPED LIKE A RAT" and talking up BALL on May 5th. Eddie is the DJ at WNEW, (102.7) in NYC and has the #1 Saturday night rock show in the tri-state area. Eddie's show, "SNR", (Saturday Night Rocks) is on every Saturday from 10 p.m. until at least 2 a.m. BALL is the 1st first band he promoted on his new segment, "SNR/A+R Showcase", focusing on up and coming bands. You can't ask for much better exposure then having your music being played in NYC on a Saturday night, on the most popular radio show, in between vintage Metallica and AC/DC!! If you're in NYC on a Saturday night, check out Eddie's show. Eddie is keeping hardrock/metal alive in NY, NJ, and CT. As a matter of fact, why don't you call in and request some BALL? Thanks a lot, Eddie!

4-10-01 Music, Links, and more!

Check out Drumstuff.com interviews with Brian Tichy and Joe Travers. Also, check out Brian at Zildjian.com.

Sometime this year, BALL's new CD, "AMERICAN AGGRESSION", will be out. BALL is currently experiencing technical difficulties beyond our control. Our label is switching distribution and there has been a "freeze" on our release date since October, '00. Just this week, a BALL fan was overheard saying, "I hope they don't need canes and walkers to get on stage by the time the record comes out!"

4-09-01...NEW AMERICAN AGGRESSION LIVE UPDATE...............
...Sorry for all the confusion, but... The bad news: The May 3rd show @ The Gig has been cancelled due to scheduling conflicts. Feel free to go, but we won't be there. The good news: 2 shows have been added!!! These are the last BALL shows for at least 2 months!! What?? These are the last BALL shows for at least 2 months!! We've investigated, and there is absolutely nothing else worthwhile to do in all of LA on these nights. So... * The 1st show you already received a shockingly enticing e-mail about is still:

From March 22nd-24th, I played drums for "The Voice of Rock", Glenn Hughes, (Deep Purple, Trapeze, Hughes/Thrall, Black Sabbath), on his first U.S. solo tour ever. We performed in N.J., Virginia, and Queens, N.Y. Check out www.glennhughes.com and go to the message board to read reviews of the shows. I knew Glenn was an amazing singer/bass player, but to actually watch him pull it off effortlessly in rehearsals and live was very inspiring. Glenn is doing a European tour at the end of May, and if schedules permit, I will be going as well.

Speaking of amazing singers, do yourself a favor and go pick up any one of Jeff Buckley's CD's, "Grace", "Sketches For My Sweetheart", or "Mystery White Boy". If you haven't heard him yet, you need to. It's not background music. When you put it on, he takes over the room, the car, the conversation, the party. Everything else becomes virtually null and void. This guy can sing! For a wanna-be vocalist like myself, Jeff's music can either inspire me to improve my singing, writing and performing, or totally bum me out because he's so good, he makes you feel like you bought the ticket, got to the station on time, but the train didn't even put its brakes on it at your stop! Brian

1/11/01...*First show since March, 2000*
1-24-01 The Dragonfly/Pretty Ugly Club
10:00 PM (located southwest side of Santa
Monica and Wilcox, Hollywood)

Update: Hello and Happy New Year! I noticed, and maybe I was the only one, that there hasn't been an update for months, and I started feelin' like a loser, trying to think of somethin' worthwhile to put on a website, and I did think of something...
...we have our first show in 10 months coming up and I hope we don't suck! We'll play at least one new song, "Cowards" and the timeless classics that we don't care if you like or not. Fingers and Travers are well, and would really appreciate it if you would come to our shows and buy our record.
Speaking of that, Ball is very close to getting a release date for this year. Time Bomb is doing a little distribution switching and want to square that away before we set a release date. I'm assuming it's safe to say pre-Summer.

The message board has mysteriously reappeared, so questions and comments are encouraged. Which bands would you like to see BALL out touring with? I have my ideas, (Ozzfest) and I'd like to hear yours.
We'll be trying to update the site soon if I can find the patience to sit at a computer for more then 20 minutes.
So it's a new year and don't forget about this band. It's all starting soon.....

Things that are cool:
Les Paul Standards, SG's, vintage Zeppelin posters, soundproof jamrooms, and your music being released...

Oh Yeah... Check out my brother's website:
http://www.miketichy.com and order his CD, then go see him in NYC or north Jersey, and shake his hand after the show while saying, "Fookin' aye! That was glate!" Then get his autograph. If you do, I'll send you a BALL T-shirt, (while supplies last, not available to residents of NY or NJ). His music is great, a la Lennon, McCartney, Buckley, Elliot Smith, etc... he plays all the goddamn instruments, sings, and records it all himself!! And you don't, so look the fuck out! HA HA HA HA HA HA!!! Until next time, thanks for your patience! Brain Tissue

9/13/00...The Ozzfest has finished and
everyone's gone home. It was an awesome
tour/experience!! The last show was 9/2/00 in San
Bernadino, Ca. It was such a cool tour to be a part
of, (even though just getting to play drums for Ozzy
in any capacity is cool enough!) All the bands were
great and all the people involved were extremely cool.
If ya didn't see it, ya missed out. Ozzy's stage was
out of control!.......On the guitar/vocal/original
band side of things: BALL's CD is finished! Mixed,
mastered, and waiting for artwork. It'll be out
February 2001, and we be tourin'. Songs included in
almost this order are: Temporary Beauty.....Trapped
Like a Rat.....
Bleed Defeat.....Gone Sour.....One Ten Two
Thousand....
Planet Earth Blues.....Strung
Out....Backslide.........
Minor Setback.....All Your Rain....Surfrider......
Sweet Goodbyes. To Time Bomb: thanks a gazillion for
lettin' me make a record how I wanted to, without any
of the bullshit that usually seems to get in the way
of why we start playin' in the first place.
Anyhow, we'll be trying to update the site soon now
that I have some time at home. Later... Brian
Also, what's wrong with somebody gettin' a few
fists and boots in the face from a couple cops after
he caused a chase, tagged a car, nearly hit a cop who
was puttin' up a roadblock, was in possession of a
gun, put countless innocent people in serious danger,
(could've been one of your friends or relatives, or
spouse)(that would've been a nice phone call to get;
"Uh, Mr. Tichy, while your wife was returning from
grocery shopping, some asshole involved in a car chase
ran into her car at 50 miles an hour and she's in
critical condition."),
and still had to be tackled to the ground! Fuck 'em!!!
I would EXPECT a lot more than that if I was the
asshole! BUT..they are "reviewing the video to see if
the police used excessive force". After he was kicked,
the guy still walked himself to the back of the cop
car. They didn't kill him! What the fuck? He
obviously used too much E.D.F.A.F. (Excessive Dumb
Fuckin' Asshole Force), so why can't the cops use a
little "Excessively Annoyed At Dumb Fucks Who We
Constantly See Too Much Of Everyday On The News And If
They Lived In A Less Tolerant Country They Would Have
Had Their Hands And Feet Severed Off-Force"????
Whatever, that's why I can barely watch the news, or
TV for that matter. Metal, take me away!!!!! Oh
yeah, somebody send some donations to the Home
Healthcare Workers for the Elderly in this state. I
am. They make
$6.25 an hour. They might get a bump up to $6.75! Wow!
Hell Yeah!! In 'N Out Burger hires at like $7.25 an
hour. Hey, God Bless America but some shit is as
wacky as the fact that people actually don't mistake
'n suck and the suck street boys for Pepsi commercials
or some shit. They are actually drawn in to the song?
And they pay big $ for it, by the 10's of
millions!!!???? Shit, remember The Beatles?
Anyway..............
The End

6/2/00... Ball recorded their record (13 songs) for Time Bomb Recordings through April. Mixing will be finished by mid-June. Everything is sounding very cool.
The day after we finished tracking the record, I got a call from Ozzy Osbourne bassist Robert Trujillo to come down and play drums with them. I've known Robert for a little while and have known Ozzy guitarist Joe Holmes for a few years. They were looking for a new drummer. We hooked up a couple days later and jammed. Everything went good and Ozzy liked it.......... so I'm going out this Summer and doing Ozzfest with them!
It goes without saying that I am completely ecstatic! Ozzy/Black Sabbath was a huge part of my life growing up. I practiced drums to their records, tried to learn Randy Rhoads' solos and was basically totally influenced by everything Ozzy has done throughout his entire career. So it is first and foremost a total honor to be able to play drums with him and the band!!
We have been rehearsing the past month and are getting it all together for Ozzfest, (July through August). It sounds loud and heavy! I can't wait to get out and start touring!
Also, any questions or comments can be e-mailed to: ballmusic@hotmail.com or All Ball Calls: 818-569-5449 the end for now...

4/8/00... Ball started recording their record for Time Bomb Recordings on April 3rd with Gilby Clarke producing. Gilby recorded the original demos at his home studio and those came out sounding pretty mighty, so if it isn't broke, don't fix it. The drums are bigger, the guitars are fatter, etc... but the groove remains the same!
Ball might try to get some shows going in the next couple months.
THE END

2/12/00... BALL------Cocunut Teaszer--------/Thurs. Feb. 24th after Union's record release show. WE are on at 12:00 midnight call 818-569-5449 to get yourself and however many total you want on the $6.00 discount list.

1/13/00... For anyone who cares, I almost died.

At 1:00 am Sunday night, I was driving home from Ball's gig at the Opium Den. I past a nasty accident on the freeway which made me more alert. As I got off at my exit and was a couple miles from my house, I got to an intersection where I had the green light. Driving towards the intersection on the side road on my right was a lone car approaching his red light. He didn't stop and was in the middle of the intersection. I swerved to the left, avoiding him and started to lose control. I swerved to the right and left but still couldn't gain control. I ran over the island and that flipped my car. I flipped 2-3 times and landed upside down. I honestly thought it was all over for me. I unbuckled myself and ripped my hand out of some broken windshield glass and jumped out the window. I expected to see the other driver running towards me feeling like a total scumbag asshole. But I was wrong. The scumbag asshole had already driven away. Nobody saw it. A minute later a bunch of cars had stopped and kids coming out of the movies came over and called 911 and my wife. Luckily, I survived the insanity with only some cuts, scrapes, and gashes on the top of my hands and head, and minor neck pain. My car was totalled. And the headstock of one of my Les Paul's was snapped.

If I wasn't wearing a seatbelt, I think I would have been crushed, ripped apart, 1/2 alive, or just dead. The seatbelt saved my life 100%. And the waste of fucking life who blew a red light watched in his rearview mirror as I flipped, and is living his life assuming that he probably took mine. That FUCK will pay one way or another more than he'll ever realize. And to everyone else: life can be shorter than you'd ever think, so start to feel naked and cold without a seatbelt on. And yes, Ball is still playing all our upcoming shows.
