THE ULTIMATE CELEBRATION FOR THE ULTIMATE DRUMMER
Presented By: NATAL Drums & MARSHALL Amplification
Bonzo Bash founder, drummer and S.U.N. guitarist Brian Thomas Tichy recently said, "I am sitting inside
the beginning of a very new year and many things are happening fast. I’ve wiped out mountain biking, broken a collarbone and had surgery Jan 1st. My amicable departure from Whitesnake to focus on my Loud Gypsy Rock band S.U.N. was announced on Jan 3rd. Now it’s Jan 9th and it’s the birthday of the most important person in music to me; Jimmy Page! With that said I am psyched to announce a bunch of new stuff happening at this year’s Bonzo Bash! I am proud to announce the addition of the one and only Nicko McBrain of Iron Maiden! Nicko is not only performing but he is going to help us out and co-host! Co-hosting along with Nicko is drum legend Carmine Appice! Carmine is recuperating from shoulder surgery but he will share his amazing stories of his times on tour with John Bonham and Led Zeppelin!
On top of that we have back with us our good friend and legendary DJ, Uncle Joe Benson from KLOS!
And also, if that wasn’t enough, the authority of all things rock, Eddie Trunk of That Metal Show will be stopping by and also co-hosting! Ok, that’s not enough! The mighty Nuno Bettencourt of Extreme and Rihanna will be paying tribute as well!
After three tribute shows entitled Bonzo: The Groove Remains the Same, and a fourth show called Bonzo’s Birthday Bash, and because of the collective passion amongst all of the participating drummers, past and present, for John Bonham, the ultimate rock drummer, Brian Thomas Tichy, Joe Sutton and Noelle Kim Retes have decided to go for it again!
BONZO BASH NAMM JAMM 2013 takes over Anaheim on Thursday January 24, 2013 at The Observatory in Anaheim, CA. Many of the past drummers who have performed are back, as well as some new! This is the chance for many out-of-towners to check it out as Natal and Marshall are presenting the Bonzo Bash on opening night of the NAMM show!
Tichy says, "Bonzo Bash is a drummer's playground. There's plenty of toys and our parents taught us to play well with others! It is a relatively simple concept. When I first thought of this the idea seemed too cool NOT to try. You get a John Bonham replica drum kit (courtesy of Natal Drums,) complete with Paiste gong and timpani, and some black dot Remo drum heads, up front, center stage, and have each drummer perform their favorite Led Zeppelin song with a house band (The Moby Dicks.) It's a unique night, seeing how all of these great drummers approach the same drum set and make it their own! And, The Moby Dicks hold their own as a true force to be reckoned with! There is structure, and within the structure there is freedom: freedom, groove, and volume! This combination makes the pace and vibe of the show like a backyard party right next to an annual wildebeest river crossing! John Bonham deserves it! His right foot alone deserves it!! Bonzo Bashes are always the ultimate Bonzo tribute show, and that's the fact Jack!"
